Marriage Matters to Me because I believe everyone should have an equal opportunity at expressing their commitment to their partners. The government should not have say in who gets married. The government is supposed to be separated from the church and not creating laws that are formed because of religious views. Due to current laws my friends and family do not have the opportunity to be married, and there for do not have the same privileges as other couples. As it stands we are not an equal people as the reputation of the United States promises those who come to the U.S. for the equal opportunities as their neighbors. Equality affects me, my friends, my family, and everyone around me. Marriage is not just important to a single portion of U.S. citizens, but to all citizens.
