I think that marriage provides the framework for a civil and decent society. The commitment to love, honor, and cherish another person. To actually hold that loved one's well-being above your own provides a base, and an example of the most selfless kind of life and kindness we as human beings are capable of. As a civil and decent society, we are obligated to grand the chance to marry to all humans, not just some.
